Completed the Trimpell 20 mile road race yesterday in a time of 2 hrs 33 mins and eleven seconds - delighted with this time as it was around 7 minutes faster than I had planned to run!

This is looking good for London 2011. If I can keep this up I'll hopefully be sub 3 hrs 30 mins for the 26 miles.

Trimpell 20!

This Saturday sees me and my running buddy David head down to Lancaster to "compete" in the Trimpell 20 Mile Road Race!

This race is ideally placed as I was due to do another 20 mile training run. I'm hoping this will be more enjoyable and easier than my normal Sunday morning runs which I usually do around the hilly roads of Auldhouse.

I'm told this course is "flat" and "fast" so hopefully I'll get round in roughly 2hrs 40mins as I'll be treating this as a test run for the Marathon and I'm aiming to cover the 20 miles at an 8min/ml pace.

The weather forecast for Sunday looks great too so hopefully I'll get a good nights sleep the night before and be fresh for the run... mind you we are booked into a new Travelodge which opens today! I hope my room is finished...

If you've found my blog you probably know me and know I love to run!
I'm currently in training for the London Marathon which takes place on the 17th of April 2011.
This will be my second attempt at the distance (My first being last year in Edinburgh) and I hope to "shatter" my time of 4hr and 3min!

I was happy to complete my first marathon but more than a little disappointed with my time. If anyone remembers is was a seriously hot day and the weather just got the better of me.
Training for a Spring Marathon is difficult as you have to train through the cold winter and you just can't prepare for that intense heat! I was training in thermals for months then 2 days before the Marathon I was desperately trying to find a suitable sunscreen and cap!

I'll be hoping for a cooler day in London but you never know - fingers crossed!
